No Cost Community Services at the New Brunswick CenterVolunteer Income Tax Assistance ProgramThe VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally $55,000 and below) people who need help to complete their tax returns. IRS volunteers receive training every year and are tested before they are certified as volunteer tax preparers. Middlesex County College, New Brunswick Center has been designated a VITA site since 2005. Students, faculty and residents of the county who wish to receive help with filing their 1040 including EIC (Earned Income Tax Credit), CTC (Child Tax Credit), Child and Dependent Care Credit and Education Credits may request an appointment by leaving a message at (732) 745-8866, extension # 130 starting on February 1, 2012. The site may also help individuals file for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). Tax preparers who speak Spanish MAY be available at this site. Tax appointments are set ONLY on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 1:30 – 3: 30 p.m., starting on Friday, February 10, 2012 until Saturday, April 14, 2012.
