Requirements for transfer in NJ as an Education Major:
Education Majors at upper division institutions must also have an academic subject major. All Education transfer students must have a minimum GPA of 2.75.

Advice:
Do not plan to graduate until you have a GPA of at least 2.75.

Each Semester:
Students in EDU 280, the Education Field Experience Class, are offered the opportunity to take the gateway examination that Kean University uses as a screening for admissions into its education major. Its own students must pass this test at the cutoff score of 435. This year, the approved test is the Academic Profile Test (APT). Students are given the opportunity to pass the test while at MCC in order to smooth the way to transfer directly into both the academic subject major (such as English or History) and also the Education Major. Without a passing score on the test, students may transfer as the academic subject major, but not as an education major.
