STARS League Hears from Execs at Career Panel
A group of New Jersey STARS students heard from a panel of professionals in April about what they do and how students should prepare for a career in their fields. The program was sponsored by the STARS League, an organization of students receiving the NJ?STARS?academic scholarship.
The League focuses on academics, community service and social opportunities. Professionals who participated included Heather Taylor, CPA, director with the accounting firm Amper, Politziner & Mattia; Dan Henrickson, general manager, Greater Media Radio; Jim D'Ovidio, the owner/president of Brown Dog Marketing; Aline Holmes, senior vice president of the New Jersey Hospital Association; William R. Healey, executive vice president of the Healthcare Institute of New Jersey; and Mark Finkelstein, superintendent of the Middlesex Regional Educational Services Commission.
STARS student Tom Leahy said, "Not only was the career panel helpful in learning about majors, college and future endeavors, but it also turned out to be the place where I found a career opportunity for this summer." He was hired by one of the panelists.
