Grad Named Co-Op Student of the Year
Virginia Borough was named the Outstanding Co-Op/Internship Student of the Year for a two-year school. The award was presented at the New Jersey Cooperative Education and Internships Association awards program in June at Rutgers University.
R&D Council Awards Scholarships to Talented Students
Three Middlesex students were awarded $1,500 scholarships from the Research and Development Council of New Jersey.
Nursing Director to Receive National Award
Michelle L. Foley, program director of the nursing program run jointly by Middlesex County College and Raritan Bay Medical Center, will receive an Outstanding Leadership Award from the National League for Nursing (NLN).
Dental Grads Post 100 Percent Pass Rate
Every member of the 2010 graduating class of the Dental Hygiene program at MCC has passed the regional and national boards. They are all now eligible to begin working as dental hygienists.
New CARE Center Helps Adults Return to College
A new program at MCC, the Center for Adults Returning to Education (CARE), will ease the way for those 21 years old and older as they return to school to complete their Associate's Degree. They must have attended a college in New Jersey between 2000 and 2009 but not be currently enrolled; have at least 31 college credits with a 2.5 grade point average or better; and be in good academic standing.
Alum Named to Board
Jean Brosnan-Barth was elected to the College Board of Trustees. A 2010 graduate, she was elected by her classmates and will serve a one-year term.
Student Nurse Honored by Medical Center
When student nurse Cherika Wright went to check on a patient at Monmouth Medical Center, she knew something wasn't right. She could feel it. The woman's vitals weren't significantly abnormal, but her hands were cold and she was unresponsive.
