College to Offer New Web Design Classes
Five new classes in web design will be offered at Middlesex County College – two of them in the fall and the others in the spring of 2010. The courses this fall are Graphics for Web Design and Typography for Web Design. The courses scheduled for the spring are Web Animation and Interactive Media, Website Design and Layout, and Portfolio.

Zusette Dato Named Alumna of the Year
Zusette Dato was presented with the Middlesex County College Alumna of the Year Award at a ceremony May 12 at the College. She was honored for her professional and volunteer work.

Express Yourself: College to Hold Tri-State Writers' Workshop
A writers' workshop open to the public will be held at Middlesex County College Friday, August 14. The program mixes sessions on writing skills with practical tips on selling what you have written. There is also a spoken word contest; the winner will receive $200.

Four Receive Excellence Awards at Celebration Day
The College honored four employees with excellence awards at the annual Celebration Day program in May. They were recognized for service to the College and their profession. They are: Dr. Uma Narayanan, faculty excellence award winner; Mary Petti, adjunct faculty award winner; Karen Gormish, staff award winner; and Dr. Diane Trainor, administrator award winner.

Commencement 09: A Beautiful Day as Grads Rejoice
The Middlesex County College Class of 2009 was graduated Thursday, May 21 at the 42nd annual Commencement exercises. A total of 1118 degrees and certificates were awarded in ceremonies witnessed by more than 3500 guests under sunny skies on the College green.

Going Green: New Program Outlines Environmental Building
The New Jersey Sierra Club joined College representatives in May to highlight the College's new Green Building program, an important step in preparing the county's workers for the new, green energy economy.

Professor Translates Legendary Sicilian Author
Santi V. Buscemi, professor of English at Middlesex County College, has published a translation of Luigi Capuana's book of children's fairy tales, "C'era una volta." The book is called "Sicilian Tales," and it is published by Dante University Press.
