The Institute at Middlesex County College Provides Free Training for Employees

Employees of area businesses and organizations can get free training in computer applications, English as a Second Language, math and customer service. It is being offered at Middlesex County College’s Edison campus, the College’s Perth Amboy Center, and the Carteret Library.

If the employer has 10 or more employees in the program, the training can be done at the job site.

“I would encourage employers to take advantage of this free training,” said Patricia Moran, director of the College’s Institute for Management and Technical Development. “It’s a great way to upgrade your employees’ skills, and it is free.”

The program is funded by a grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor, the New Jersey Business & Industry Association and the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce & Economic Development. This grant has been in existence for the past five years and Middlesex has been extremely active in using it to upgrade the skills of the current workforce.

Employees can get basic skills training in English as a Second Language, written and verbal communications, computer applications (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook), and mathematics and measurement.
