MCC Student Awarded Edison Chamber of Commerce Business Scholarship
Jessica Jansen (Edison), who is majoring in Liberal Arts/Business at Middlesex County College, received the 2011-2012 Edison Chamber of Commerce/Annamae Baerenbach Business Scholarship. The award was presented at the Chamber’s annual meeting June 12.
“I’m very honored to receive this scholarship,” she said. “I’m very grateful for the financial support; it is a big help.”
Jansen started at Middlesex even before she graduated from Edison High School by earning college credit through the High School Scholars Program.
“I love the college,” she said. “I like the small class sizes so you get to know your professors personally. They are terrific and always willing to help. I’m very happy here.” In May, she completed her first year at Middlesex with a 3.85 grade point average.
Jansen’s career goal is to become an accountant, an interesting, in-demand field that offers flexibility.
She works part time at the ShopRite in Edison and for most of her life has been active in community service through her church, St. Matthew the Apostle in Edison.
She is planning to graduate from Middlesex and then transfer to Rutgers University, where she will major in accounting.
