Stars in the Kitchen . . . And on the Court
Whether they are dribbling a basketball or making a soufflé, Cristina Jordan and Myles Reuben have great hands, and much in common. The two standout basketball players also excel in their classes at Middlesex County College's Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Dietetics program.
On the court, Cristina has a 16 points-per-game average with 12 rebounds and 2 blocks; Myles has a 15-points-per-game average, and he shoots 32 percent from the 3-point range. Both were named to the Region 19 second team.
Both have similar dreams that involve both basketball and the hospitality industry. Each hopes to transfer to a four-year school where they will play basketball – athletic scholarships are possible for both – followed by a professional hoops career in Europe.
After that, their paths diverge. Cristina, a Culinary Arts major, looks to desserts.
"I really want to own my own bakery," she says. "I love desserts. I love decorating cakes." Myles, majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Management, would like to manage a hotel one day.
