25th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic Is a Memorable One
Oct 1, 2007
Thanks to everyone who supported the Middlesex County College Foundation’s 25th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic. With a beautiful day as our backdrop, 70 golfers enjoyed themselves at Colonia Country Club, Colonia.
Our golfers and dinner guests were a diverse representation, not only from the corporate and business world, but also from our very own MCC campus community and retirees. The day’s events began with a wonderful BBQ lunch, followed by a great day of golfing. During cocktails on the patio and watching the sun go down, the golfers feasted on butler passed hors d’oeuvres, witnessing Allende Matos from FKA Architects win the putting challenge. The evening continued with a carving station and delectable buffet dinner. The golfers received a wind vest embroidered with the Foundation logo commemorating our 25th anniversary. Each golfer also received our famous goody bag items from local corporations in appreciation of their support.
This year the Foundation honored William R. Walsh, Jr. with a commemorative 25th Anniversary flag. Bill chaired the first golf classic 25 years ago. During his acceptance speech, Bill delighted the audience by presenting a contribution of $3,500, which was the amount raised by the First Annual Scholarship Golf Classic, to benefit our 25th Anniversary Event!
The 50/50 Cash Raffle proved to be an overwhelming success. Golf chair, Brian Legg, was the lucky winner of $1,320. Our guests enjoyed milling about the “Tricky Tray” deciding where to place their tickets among the many high end items on the tables. Lee Mathews, Edison Job Corps served as “auctioneer” to the “live auction” of golf foursomes to some of the area’s most desirable golf clubs. The net proceeds of the event, $36,611 will help the Foundation provide scholarship assistance to approximately 20 deserving MCC students! We thank all those who supported this event on their behalf.
Thanks to you and the many others who support our mission, the Foundation provided scholarships and financial aid to 625 MCC students last year! Thank you for making a difference by giving them the opportunity to realize their academic and career dreams. We hope you will join us again next Fall for the 26th Annual Golf Classic!
