High School Vs. College

An Educational Journey

The legal force that guides our work on the Collegiate level varies greatly from the regulations that govern public elementary and secondary education.  Many students with disabilities attending college come to us having been classified by the public school system through a child study team.  The K to12 system has a vastly different set of rules that govern their elementary and secondary education.  At times, the history of “entitlement” is projected onto college personnel and the differences in the requirements of the laws of the two educational systems may create confusion and communication gaps.
